Hey 365+ friends, it’s Hannah!
If you are new here, welcome. I am glad to have you in my inner circle :)
It’s been a long while since I sent an email out, but I haven’t been sitting twiddling my thumbs, promise. I’ve had multiple illustration projects on the go, which had to take centre stage.
I have also been contemplating switching to a different newsletter platform, but on this random Friday afternoon, I have decided not to let this stop me from sending new updates.
I feel like sometimes it is hard to ‘come up for air’ with all the busyness of freelance projects and social media. The funny thing is, it is often all self-created.
In my case, I am my own boss, so I should be a kind boss.
This is why I am feeling empowered to take a break from posting online.
Because the constant cycle of posting ‘just in time’ to publish limits what I can create.
I also need time to rest. To make space to focus on my personal ambitions as well as Quoted Visually, that is, to build a business around the lifestyle that I want to lead.
We can fool ourselves into thinking that rest can be deferred. That we can book it out all in one go. That it is a box to tick, just like any other item on our to-do list.
But rest has to be integrated into our lifestyles if we really want to thrive
So what are my plans?
The 1st of September will mark one year of me being self-employed - madness!
But before then, I want to take time to build something substantial, like a course, or expand my range of available products.
I want to be able to provide value in different ways. There are only so many clients I can take on.
I've stacked up enough evidence. I know I can do it.
So the only thing left to do is TRY!
And try not to do everything at once because, without prioritisation, we get nowhere.
I hope this inspires you to give your own projects the light of day, to ignore imposter syndrome and face it all head-on! I am just making it all up as I go along.
Currently building my Shopify store, here’s a sneaky preview:
When I left my 9-5, I thought maybe 6 months would be enough to try this self-employed gig out, but I was wrong, it takes a year or more just to get started.
Have you dabbled with entrepreneurship yet? What has your experience been?
That’s a wrap. Hope you have a lovely weekend!
All the love, Hannah aka Quoted Visually x
P.s. no voice note today. I am contemplating new ways to share those updates!
Instead, enjoy this snap from my recent walk. I’m just about to go there now :) My dog who is sitting next to me is going to be very happy he finds out haha.

Hi Hannah, I always look forward to your posts. Congratulations on getting attention from Steven Bartlett. I really enjoy writing my blog, but find it takes much of my free time. Ironically, leaving little time for the very thing I’m writing about, developing apps. In the last few weeks, I’ve managed to get ahead by batch writing the blog posts. So now I have some space to get back to designing my little game, Scarper. Have a fun weekend. Cheers, Phil...
